Aiesa … Our first Bible Story

Aeisa, as seen from Lisa’s bedroom window.

“…Go, and do likewise.” Jesus

On Lisa’s first trip to Bangladesh, she watched as a small crippled girl, living in a courtyard visible from her bedroom window, sat alone in the dirt. Unable to walk, the little girl was often crying. She would crawl a short distance, scribble in the dirt, and cry some more. Occasionally, another child would arrive to feed her a bit of rice.

One evening, after the child’s parents returned from work, Lisa & Rose went to meet the family.

The father explained that their family lost everything in search of medical care for their youngest of 3 children. Her name was Aeisa, she was 8 years old and had been born with Cerebral Palsy. The family of 5 had hocked their village farm and travelled to Dhaka seeking medical treatment for Aeisa. Medical tests took all the family had and in return provided no medical treatment & no answers.

Left destitute and unable to regain the family farm, Aeisa’s brother and sister were forced into slave labor while both parents had to work as laborers, earning only enough each day to feed Aeisa and themselves. The family of now only 3 lived in a one-room “structure” made of tin and bamboo. Their beds were burlap sacks with thin blankets laid over the dirt floor.

That evening, Lisa asked God what she should do to help this family. God replied, “Do unto Aesia, what you would do for your own child.” Like the good Samaritan Jesus spoke of, Lisa provided Rose with the money and instructions to look after Aeisa and her family before returning to America.

When Lisa returned to Bangladesh 10 months later, All God’s Children had purchased back the family’s farm, built them a new house, brought home their other two children, and provided the needed medical care, therapy, and schooling for Aeisa. And Aeisa was thriving.

Aeisa went to be with God at the young age of 12 due to complications from Cerebral Palsy. But her family never stopped praising God & recognizing the care He showed them, calling Aeisa their “special child from God.” Aeisa’s story was the profound beginning of what would become All God’s Children, a Bible Story started by God, for God, and through God. For over 26 years, He has been profoundly faithful, using our “fish and loaves” to spiritually, physically & financially nourish the many needs of thousands of people in Bangladesh.

Khaer: A blind beggar receives his sight.

His sight restored, Khaer returned to farming.

“The  Lord  gives sight  to the blind” Ps 146:8

Khaer was forced to beg on the streets of Dhaka after becoming blind due to early-onset cataracts.

All God’s Children provided the money for cataract removal surgery. His sight restored, Khaer returned to being a successful farmer. He praises God for his sight and his new life each day.

Luke 18: 38-42 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him.

When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Mohan… from “stable living” to a new home.

He raises the poor from the dust…
Ps 113

Mohan and his family lived in a remote village and shared their living quarters with the few farm animals they owned.

All God’s Children built Mohan a new home and provided them with 2 new cows.

The family of 4 now enjoys a comfortable, dry home, and the animals are kept comfortably & separately in their stable.  The family is so thankful to God for His help.

Celebrating Jesus in the villages.

At Christmas & Easter, Rose travels to villages where every family is invited to enjoy a large meal together. At Christmas, All God’s Children provides the children with a new outfit and everyone goes home with a new warm blanket.

Although Bangladesh is tropical, winters nights are cold and people are grateful for the warmth a blanket brings.

“The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all his works.”  Psalm 145:9

Micro Business Start Ups

Help For the Disabled and Micro Business

Many people in Bangladesh earn their living with micro-businesses. They only need a small amount of capital to begin supporting themselves. Julius (pictured right) wanted a small stand to sell goods.

He is handicapped, having lost both legs due to an infection. All God’s Children provided the funds for his initial inventory.

This was the simple boost he needed to be an independent business owner, able to feed his family.
